Hi There,

As far as restaurants on St. Thomas go, you have a great variety to choose from….from fast food places like in the states to pizza places to the Caribbean's version of Fridays - The Greenhouse - to the very, very expensive. Which ones you would like are up to what your preferences are.

For an inexpensive meal and a talk with "mom" try Dottie's at Compass Point. At Havensite, Delly Deck is a great choice for good and inexpensive food. Havensite Café has one of the best roti on the island.

Some other repeat, good choices are….Caribbean Steak House and Saloon in Red Hook, Old Stone Farmhouse on the north side, Mims at the Watergate, & Blue Moon Café at Secret Harbour. Try Agave Terrace for amazing views and food and service that we have always found to be very, very good despite the rash of recent bad postings on many bboards. Another incredible view can be enjoyed at Mafolie up above downtown. The Banana Tree Grill at Bluebeards Castle was very nice. Also thought that Herve's downtown was very nice for lunch….although we would have preferred that he open the glass doors instead of using the A/C….but the view again was excellent….he is in the same location where Fiddle Leaf was located.

Try Romano's in Smith Bay for really good Italian food..every bit as good as Virgilio's without quite the atmosphere, On one of our visits, our waitress was a very nice young lady who turned out to be the daughter of Tony, the owner…on vacation from college and looking forward to going back to the states. Virgilio's in downtown CA is always good and a great visual experience even if it is all enclosed. Gladys’ Café or Cuzzins downtown also has great lunches…..west indian food and cold beer….a great way to take a break from the heat when you are shopping.

In Frenchtown you have Alexanders or Craig & Sally's. Both are indoor restaurants and have good food, although IMHO C&S's is not as good as many of the reviews it gets.

On the north side Indigo is a really nice restaurant in a nice setting. We found it to be priced very reasonably considering the quality of food and service.

As you can see, St. Thomas offers lots of great choices…….I’ve only named a representative sample of what you can find on the island. Take your pick and enjoy your meal.

Okay, MY favorites for lunch: Cuzzin's (also dinner), Molly Molone's (also good for casual dinner), Randy's (also great for a wonderful dinner!), Hook, Line and Sinker, Bella Blu aka Alexander's (also good for dinner), Iggie's.

For dinner: Old Stone Farmhouse, Robert's, East End Cafe, Azure and all the spots listed above under lunch for dinner!

And while I almost always agree with Schultz, there are two spots he listed that I would never ever recommend, so I won't! 🙂

Ginger,

Did Noche re-open? When we were last on STT they closed rather unexpectedly for "vacation". Found a couple of their employees working at Alexander's a few days later because they said they were told the restaurant wouldn't re-open.

What's the latest? Are they open?

It looks like it reopened as a...steak house! That's how it's advertised in the local papers.

I believe they even closed the steakhouse- maybe $50 was too high a price point!! I don't see their ads anymore.

Hi-

I just returned from STT after spending 10 days. I wanted to comment on Havana Blue which I was looking forward to trying out.

The atmosphere is absolutly beautiful! The food was delicious, but for the price and the amount of food they give you I don't think it was worth it. My husband had a seafood dish and was atucally still hungry when he finished it. I wound up giving him 1/2 of my chicken. To me $30.00 for a piece of chicken is a little outraggish.

Still my favorites:

Room with a View
Romanos

Causal dinning

Molly Malones
Latitude 18

Hi Again Ginger,

Yes, Havana Blue has a large bar. It's on the "upper" tier in the restaurant and overlooks the "lower" section which is where the main dining area is located.

Just to set the record straight on Noche, it did indeed re-invent as a steakhouse but has now closed and is for sale. It is owned by the same people who own Duffy's on St. Thomas and St. John. The latter has already been sold and has changed its name while the former is for sale along with Noche.
