Dave & I are coming back down to STT May 10-24th, can't wait! This time we are bringing our son, my sister and her son. Would love to get together with forum members, but at a place we could talk and hear each other not like last year at Paradise Pt. Anyone up for a get together?:)

We will be back in town May 13th for two weeks. Where would you like to meet? I'm on the east end, where will you be staying? We can start plotting from there.

Molly, We are staying at Allure and then Magens Pt. on the north side, but we will have a car so location doesn't matter. Whatever is easy for you. My husband is pretty good with finding places a little scary at times but thats why he drives not me in STT!

Barb,

Have you ever eaten at Fungi's? It's a smaller place that doesn't get too loud, on the water and has great local food. How old are you and your sister's boys? We wil be bringing 2 of our son's that are 20 and 22.

Don't you love the roads in STT! My husband likes to drive like a mad man, he loves it, I personally am terrified at times. Don't you love how you'll get a complimentry "honk" as you'r being passed on a curving mountaintop road!

We will also have a vehicle, so if you have any reccommendations for places in your neck of the woods let us know.

Molly,
Your husband and mine sound alike. He loves driving in STT. He seems to think STT is a fun roller coaster ride. We are in our 50's our son is 24 and my sisters son is 30 both single. Fungis is OK but I wasn't to thrilled with the food. How about Iggies is bigger if we can talk some local forum members into joining us?

Barb..let me know how you find Magens Pt. I have a timeshare there that I bought a few years ago but have never used it. It is in the pointy building overlooking Magens Bay. 2 BR...anyway, I would sell it for a song if you know of anyone interested. Week 32 (August 2nd week)...I have eaten many times at Indigo and even still liked it after the change of ownership this year. Let me know what you think! Thanks

We have been to a few of the "VINOW" get togethers and have always enjoyed ourselves. We won't be able to make it to the one in May but my wife and I will be there from 5/27 through the end of August so if anyone else is planning on another get together keep us in mind. Rick & Deb

Just a suggestion but The Toad and Tart would be happy to host another VINow get-together on Tuesday 13 or Tuesday 20 from 6-9PM - a private party when the pub is closed to the public.

$15 pp and cash bar, buffet table laden with sliced roast beef and honey-baked ham, chicken tenders and wings, shrimp and crabmeat in lobster cream sauce in puff pastry shells, pasta primavera salad, baked filo-wrapped brie with carmelized onions, fresh fruits, selection of other cheeses, fresh breads and crackers - and petits fours. And maybe even more as the Old Tart really enjoys doing these special things.

Minimum 15 guests and max 35 give or take. For those who aren't familiar with The Toad and Tart you can read all about it at www.toadandtart.com. I think Islander has a couple of pics of a previous get-together at the T&T which was the best-attended to date.

Just a thought and a goodwill invitation. All that's asked is a basic OK and then a number tally a week beforehand.

If this doesn't fly, no problem, but I absolutely look forward to seeing mibarb and Dave again as it was next to impossible to have a chat at that Paradise Point get-together other than on the tramway - and finding anyone amongst the melee was quite a trip. Cheers!

Hi Barb and STT Resident,

Iggies sounds great to me, believe it or not, I've never been there. But The Toad and Tart is one of my favorite places. I like the idea of the private get together on the 20th, the 13th will be a travel day for me and I'm usually pretty exhausted. I'm completely open to both places, and dates if the 13th works better for most. I'll just have to watch my alcohol consumption on the plane, I really don't like to fly and a few cocktails usually takes the edge off.

I will be traveling with 7 men on this trip. My husband, 2 son's, a plumber, tile contractor and 2 carpenters. So we can fill up at least 8 of the 15 person minimum needed for the Toad and Tart to host a get together. Add a few of my neighbors and good friends that I have met on island also through this great forum, and we'll have a great get together.

STT Resident, I look forward to meeting you also, and Sherri, I hope that your schedule will work out so that I can meet you too.

Molly

Molly,
Toad and Tart sounds great to me. Either date is fine. Like you said maybe take a poll to see. Would be nice to be able to talk to each other and we wouldn't have any problem finding each other. 🙂

Barb,

The Toad and Tart it is. I look forward to seeing who else can make it. The buffet selections sound delicious. Thanks STT Resident for the reccommendations. Anyone else want to join us, we are taking votes on the 13th vs. the 20th of May. As I had mentioned earlier, the 20th works best for me, let's get a tally and see what date works best for most.

20th gives me more time to prepare and in any case the thought of Molly schnockered from her trip and toppling into the buffet table sounds less than tantalizing although it WOULD make for a great photo-op...

Thank you STT. Believe me, it would not be a pretty sight. Somewhat comical, but definately NOT graceful. Did I mention that I am Irish?
