My wife and I will be in STT in late April during a cruise. We will be there from 8am to 5pm. We are looking for a good excursion to go on while we are there. We have no desire for snorkeling or scuba diving. We do want a few hours for shopping. So, that will leave 4 - 5 houres for an excursion. Some options are: 4 1/2 hr STJ tour and a 2 1/2 hr STT sight seeing tour. But the one that looks good to us is a 4 1/2 hr Ultimate Island Experience, which includes riding on Skyline Drive, Drakes Seat, Magen's Bay for 2 hrs. and Blackbeards Hill. If you had 4 - 5 hrs in STT what would you do? Also are we better off shopping down town or at Havensight Mall? Thanks for any info.

Tony:
The shops are pretty much the same at Havensight Mall as down town minus the traffic. All the large stores have ones at Havensight. St. John's tour is great but at the expense of not seeing any of St. Thomas. It's a toss up between the ultimate and St. Johns in my opinion. Can't loose with either.

I would vote for a half day "BOB Underwater Adventure" (www.bobusvi.com)....but that may be because my wife is the manager! Haha! Seriously, though, it IS a very cool trip. I mean, how often do you get a to ride a motorscooter underwater?!?

Hello Tony,

The Ultimate Island Experience you described sounds like a good bet. You said you weren't interested in snorkeling/diving... are you interested in the beach? If not 2 hours at Magens Bay might not be your cup of tea and you might opt for just an island tour that skips the beach stop.

I would say go for a nice 2 1/2 hour St. Thomas sight seeing tour. Then have a nice lunch at one of our many great restaurants. Then do some shopping downtown after lunch, maybe take a peak at some of the historical sites like Fort Christian while downtown.

Tony: I am with Islander on this one. Take a cab to town in the morning, or walk if you want to stretch your legs- it is a mile and flat along the waterfront. Shop and have lunch, maybe at Cuzzin's. You can find a taxi van that will give you an Island Tour probably for much less than the cruise ship's excursion rate. You might want to be left at Coral World for an hour or so, if that interests you. The taxi van will return you to the dock and you can finish up any shopping you didn't do in the morning. Have fun!
