We get to STT on a Saturday and Sunday will be a beach and snorkeling day.

I'm thinking....first Coki (to try to avoid some crowds), then Sapphire, then Magens which is the closest to us in Mahogany Run.

Does everybody agree with this?

All of those beaches are fairly crowded. But easy for taxi service which might be important. Don't bother snorkeling at Magens since it is all sand with absolutely no reef. If you have a car I would recommend some other local beaches with less crowds and better snorkeling.

StuScott,
Connie is staying in a villa and is renting a car! Great way to do it!!!! 🙂
Connie, ck out the cruise ship sched. for that Sunday to see how many ships are in! Sundays have been one of our quieter days if I am recalling right. That's a lot of cover in one day, but it sure can be done! StuScott is right about Magen's, it is more for lounging than snorkeling! (I think you probably already know that, right)?
Don't forget Secret Harbor as a great place to snorkel. You might want to do Coki (early), Saphire and then Secret Harbor. Just an idea. 🙂 Are you counting down yet?

Hey Sherri...Hey Scott.

Yes I am counting down. It's so exciting to take our best friends down there. I've even been friends with Donna since Kindergarden. Our 2 daughters are also best friends. Lots of history with our 2 families. Fun people.

Coki we would go early....maybe around 10 or so...snorkel some, let them see all the fish that are there....then go over to Sapphire for our lunch (bringing it) and some snorkeling. Maybe a stop at Duffy's :o) And then onto Magens, only because it's so pretty and by that time they'll be tired out. It's important to me that they get a great first taste of snorkeling for them. We've done it alot, but they have never done it. When we were down in Key West, my husband and myself jumped off a dock and went snorkeling, they were totally amazed and thought it was so funny. We bought them gear for Christmas. My daughter is experienced, but other then myself, my husband and daughter...that's it...nobody else has ever done it.

Where is Secret Harbour? We never made that on our last trip.

Stu....we have 2 jeeps that we rented. One will be for the old people :o) Husband, myself, Craig and Donna and the other will be for our 20 year olds....Alison, Ryann, Shawn, Craiger and Michelle.

I swear...i can't stand it. I can't wait for these guys to see how beautiful it is down there. Can't wait for the laughs we'll have.

Secret Harbour is of rt 322, the road to the Ritz out near Red Hook. Take rt 322 (look for the Ritz Carlton sign), take your first right (there are 2 signs, one says Secret Harbour, the other says Blue Moon Cafe'), then take your first left which is a sharp left and has a sign for Secret Harbour! I always recommend it for snorkeling and is mentioned often on the forum! You must go if you never have! 🙂 The restaurant is good there as well!

Connie when you get here and want something deserted and off the beaten path let me know and I can give you some directions to two beaches where you will most definitely be alone and have good snorkeling.

One spot I'll reveal to the board against my better judgement is Pelican Beach which is attached to Sapphire but none of the guests bother walking down that far, and I can give you a tip on how to get there with the Jeep so you don't have to walk. Good snorkeling there too. Just send me a pm or something.

Stu,
I have never snorkeled at Pelican, BUT the owner of the land right there freaks if anyone walks across her property. She's MEAN!!!!! 🙂

True Sherri she is a nut. Thats so funny her awful reputation is well known. I've only had a problem with her once but she went away. There is a spot in the back you can park and not have to cross her property since she has sold some of those lots.

Connie,

Coki and Sapphire Beach are the nicest. Beautiful beaches with very nice snorkeling. On Coki the locals serve you beer and cold drinks. There's also a snack bar near by.
