I will be in St. Thomas on 10/30. There will be 8 of us and I would like to find out if anyone has any suggestions on what to do for a 1st year anniversary. One of the couples were married last year on Magen's Bay on 11/4. I really would like to try to get together something special for them on that day. We made it a point to go at this time again because they wanted to spend their anniversary there. In fact, they want to make it a yearly event. We are staying at Windward Passage and usually just go to the Greenhouse. In fact, that was where we had a surprise reception for them. Personally, this will be my 24th trip to St. Thomas. I love it there. In fact, when someone asks my why I don't go anywhere different, I tell them that this is like "therapy" for me.
Sorry for being so long-winded! If anyone could give me some ideas, I would very much appreciate it.

After 24 visits, you should be giving the advice!!! Okay, here are some ideas: a beach picnic at Magen's, a day sail or a sunset sail (might be tough as most take either 6 or a big bunch), dinner at Cuzzin's for local food, a beach tour with different activities at each (parasail, kayak, snorkel), sunset cocktails at Paradise Point, Halloween at Duffy's. Need more?

Doris I agree with East Ender you shoud be giving advice here to new vacationers!! If you are going to make a whole day of the aniversary - I would say day time a picnic at Magens as suggested - bring a bottle of champagne and pick up some plastic glasses along with food and other beverages - find a picnic table and have a great time. In the evening perhaps have a nice dinner at one of the restaurants; Banana Tree Grill has a beautiful view and a great atmosphere... then if you still want to party head to Greenhouse... sounds like a long day. LOL but a great one.

Thank you East Ender and Islander for your replies. They all sound great! I think the beach picnic on Magen's with champagne probably will be a great idea, since that was where the wedding took place. Banana Tree Grille sounds good too. That is at Bluebeard's? Even though I have been to STT so many times, we usually do the same things over because there are always new people in our group. This year we will have 4 new people with us. We are staying for 11 days as opposed to a week. My time there never seems to be quite enough. After my first trip, back in '82, my friend and I had pretty much decided that eventually we would quit our jobs, pack up and move to STT for a little while. Circumstances beyond our control prevented that, but, I still vacation there. I have to say that this is the only place I have ever been that once I step from the plane, I feel all stresses of home and work leave. It's like I'm having an out of body experience.
As for Halloween, the past couple of years, my group has been in costume. Of course, we always go to the Greenhouse because of being in walking distance from the hotel. Do you have to be in costume to go to the party at Duffy's? None of us have actually had the time to even come up with anything. There are still so many things I would love to experience so I guess I will have to keep coming back!

Doris,

Glad to hear that each year you get new folks to come down and enjoy the islands with you. Definately you should try new things out on each trip - lots to see and do!! No you don't have to be in costume to go to Duffys for the Halloween party its just always more fun... LOL. Greenhouse has a great party, as you already know, so you can go there as well. Have a wonderful time.
