We're staying at the Westin on St. John. On the day of our flight out, we'd like to spend some time shopping. I assume Charlotte Amalie is the place. If we take the ferry from Cruz Bay, is there a safe place to store our luggage for a few hours while we spend money?

The Chamber of Commerce Hospitality Lounge and the Tourism Office used to offer this service, but neither offer the service anymore.
When you get off the ferry downtown Charlotte Amalie look for a taxi driver and tell them you need to go to the airport at X time but you want to walk around town for a bit. Arrange a meeting time and point... they will hold your luggage for you for a fee in their van and will meet you back at the time arranged to take you to the airport. Get their business card/number should you need to call them for some reason to change the plans.

The airport is not very far from town. If you want, you can just check in early, get your boarding passes, and go back in town and do your shopping and return to the airport. At least you won't be rushing at the last minute to wait in line at the ticket counter.
