We're at countdown minus 7 plus weeks to Concordia on STJ. We just had our plane schedule changed which means we won't arrive till after dark maybe. The original plan was to pick up our rental car in Cruz Bay and hit a grocery store in Coral Bay before heading to our tent cabin. Does anyone know: a) how late do the stores on the Coral Bay side stay open on Saturday nights and b) if we get there too late to pick up our rental car, how late do the taxis run from Cruz Bay? We stayed at Maho Bay the last 3 times so this wasn't an issue. Thanks guys! And although I'm not a sports fan- go Patriots! (and let me tell you the traffic tonight around the stadium will delay our getting home by an extra hour-fun!)

A.) I dunno.
B.) Taxis run 24 hours a day. Now, as to the price for the trip...that depends on the taxi's mood at that prticular time of nite. True, they are supposed to follow the Taxi Association's scheduled fares, but whatcha gonna do?

Hi, any idea about where to get a phone card once we arrive?

Almost every store has them, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding one.

Hello Karrieb,

If you aren't arriving too late, contact your car rental company and see if they have any suggestions/solutions for you getting the rental when you arrive. If not, taxis are available. If you are arriving real late you might ask Concordia if they have any taxi drivers they frequently work with that they might suggest.

Love City Mini Mart is usually open everyday 7am-10:30pm.

Thanks Islander- this change in our air schedule really p----- me off as we cant' wait to get back and didn't want to arrive at night. If all goes well, we'll barely make all our connnections. I did contact Conrads and they'll stay till 7:30 so hopefully... and the market hours help. YOu're the best!

Unless you have your heart on Conrads you may want to consider Penns 🙂 They are great to work with and if you arrive/leave after hours or on the weekends they will leave the keys for you and you just have to go back the next day to fill out the paperwork. A taxi to Concordia (I think) would be pretty expensive. Just something to think about.

A taxi out to Condordia, then back the next day to get the car, ouch! Another idea might be just to stay at a B&B in St. Thomas the first night, then go over to STJ the following morning, at your leisure, with no rushing or stress. It probably won't cost any more than the taxi fares. That's what we did, spent the night with Ronnie at Crystal Palace, and it worked out fine.

Thanks for advise- we did give some thought to a St T overnight and may have to consider that at the last minute as we won't know of course about delays coming from Boston to STT until that day. Hubbie assumes we can always get a late evening shuttle if we have to to the Maho Bay side and just stay there. Pia, do you have a web address for Penns? This may be a much better option. Such a hassle, having the plane schedule get screwed up- what a difference 3-4 hours may make! Well, who am I to complain, I'm just grateful right now for a house that's not flooded, no one personally close lost 4 years ago, and a wonderful trip in our immediate future! Pia, aren't you one of the get-together people?
