Not sure what rental company you are using, but we considered doing the same thing.
We decided not to and planned on making a run to Starfish before it closed

when the cateredto rep took us the villa
To our surprise the owners had left us a very nice stash of stuff
Coke, Rum, Beer, Fresh Water
Snacks, cheese, and pick ups
Fruit, light Breakfast stuff, and juice
All complimentary

Wow! Maybe ours will as well. Is Starfish on St. Thomas? We're concerned about having to carry groceries over on the ferry. Thanks for responding. Oh, by the way, I'm not sure what rental company but we are staying at Amorosa on Peter Bay.

Starfish is in Cruz Bay (little outside of town headed towards the westin
There is a nice wine and cheese shop across from it

Dolphin Market is right downtown at the top of the hill where the ferry comes in

Some folks save shopping in STT, but for a week or two I will go head support the local markets
When in STT we do STT
When in STJ we do STJ

Peter Bay is a good ride from any market, so when you go to the market think smart and then add an extra one

I believe that Starfish Market is now providing villa provisioning services, as well. Or, there is Katilady or Christy's (both on STJ). There have been articles and video interviews with the gentleman who owns Startfish and with Christy at the e-zine On St. John: www.on-stjohn.com. Lots of good STJ info there.

Another good option is www.stjohncatering.com. I've checked out their website and they offer not only a provisioning service but have catered meals also.

It would be wonderful if market on STJ provided provisioning services like Bobbi's and The Ample Hamper do on Tortola. This is the first I've heard that Starfish might. I'd be happy to drive by and pickup the provisions.

Cheers, RickG

We arrive in 10 days, and are bringing an array of meats from Omaha Steaks. We got an unbelievable special, otherwise I'd probably just have gone to my local supermarket. Omaha is not only great, but ideal packaging for travel. Villa provisioning through Katilady is always lovely, as well. They've been a big help on past trips, and can be a wonderful surprise for others in your party!

A Friend of mine couldn't get Kati Lady to provision on short notice (1-2 days) and she tried East West Catering. She really liked them. Here's a link to their website. I can vouch for their Starbucks ground coffee, sandwiches and the fresh fruit, which fed 5 of us on more than one occasion
