The rum is cheaper than water. True. The restaurants might as well have been touched by Midas because that's how much it cost. Totally buy your food, rent a villa and cook yourself. We went for a week to get married and enjoy our honeymoon. If you have a totally laid back surfer buddy make sure he comes along. Talk about value added to our trip. Done. I liked going out in our jeep, exploring the island with our snorkel gear on our backs and then coming back to enjoy our villa and the views of Cruz Bay from our deck. AAHHH.

We horkled and sniked, we explored--it was a getaway that was as fast paced or slow paced as we wanted to make it. Everywhere we went we made our own and brought it back home with us. The only steel pan we heard on the island was the drummer we hired for our wedding but if you want a reminder when you get home, buy the cheesy steel pan cds from the lady at the Mongoose Junction mall store.

The wedding:
Trunk Bay beach. Sun, surf and sand. Faith, hope and love. A beautiful ceremony at sunset. Stacy puts together a mean wedding. She is the consumate professional. If you're looking to put you're wedding plans in the most capable hands, she's the one. Minister Jaggernaut is accomodating and open. We had only just met him, yet we felt immediately comfortable and accepted. I will always appreciate his warm demeanor and his expression of respect for the marriage rite.

The daytrip to Virgin Gorda on Stormy Petrel was without peer. Captain Galen is an accomplished seaman with a wealth of local knowledge who made The Baths really enjoyable, and his first mate Tia--warm and attentive; the best service we received the whole week. A day well spent.

All in all, I quite enjoyed our whole setup. I'm sure cruising in an over-sized tin can for a week is nice, and laying around on a single plot of sand for a week has its draw. But for my money, there's nothing like having a whole island, and you really have the whole place--3/4 of it is national part land, including the beaches and reefs--to yourself. You can make it your own. Avoid the mexican food.
