On our next visit to STJ, we're taking the public ferry over to Jost Van Dyke which we've done before. But this time we want to go to Diamond Cay to eat at Foxy's Taboo, see the bubbling pool and try the snorkling. Can you walk from the ferry dock to Diamond Cay? Any opinions on the snorkling from shore there? Thanks all!

Hello - we found it a bit far to walk, so we used Bunn's taxi service and arranged a time for them to come back and get us later. The bar at Foxy's Taboo can give you a map for the walk to the Bubbly Pool and can also call the taxi when you're ready to leave. Hope this helps, Enjoy!

Thanks, but can you tell me more about what you think a bit far to walk is? Over a couple of miles? We're pretty hardy and don't mind the heat but if its more like 2 or more miles with alot of uphill ( uphill like it was to White Bay then down to Soggy Dollar) then that taxi sounds perfect.

Much steeper than the hill from Great Harbour to White Bay. I've walked from Ivan's to Bubbly Pool, there was one descent/ascent that seemed 60 degrees. Doable, but not if you're just there for the day. IMHO.

Judging by island maps it's probably a 3+ mile walk each way from great harbor, plus the steepness factor. I echo cathy's thoughts - if you're there just for the day you might not want to spend your limited time hoofing it around. Either way, hope you have a blast - we love Jost.

Thanks all, you have talked us out of walking, particularly since we'll be hauling snorkle gear in hopes of some good spots near Diamond Cay. I may have talked Hubbie into getting a small power boat for the day, otherwise, we'll pick up the taxi that some of you recommend. Thanks again!
