I'm interested in a day trip from STJ to the Baths. Saw the ferry runs on Thursday and Sundays only. We originally wanted to go on Wednesday, after our wedding--what would be the best way to accomplish this? If we do decide to take the ferry over, is there enough to do at the baths for a whole day or do people take in other sites before heading back on the 3pm ferry?

You could try taking the ferry from St. John to Tortola, then Tortola to Virgin Gorda, instead of taking the Thursday/Sunday ferry.
