Okay about the 3rd day of our Honeymoon I developed 5 little white bumps on my index finger's tip...Pretty small, its a wonder I even saw them..a day later one by one they surfaced , almost like dry skin and peeled off one by one, each one as it peeled connected to the next already peeled one, so I eventually had this large raw fingertip, (which by the way I left alone) It was very sensitive, as it healed it stayed red (like a burn) and scarred!!!! The skin is healed now but if you look you can see exactly where it was! The last day of our honeymoon my husband finger (middle on the inside, the part that sits against the next finger) did the same thing! Anybody have this before? Did something bite us? Anybody have any ideas?? Thanks Guys!
Meredith
Ewwwwww! 😛
It is kind of small to be a reaction to something, but did you all happen to peel and eat any mangoes? I am alergic to poison ivy and the skin of mangoes has the same substance that is in poison ivy. I can't touch the skins of mangoes, but if they are peeled correctly and not cut into, than I can eat the fruit of the mango without issue.
That is all I have. Put some aloe on it and fuhget 'bout it.

Meredith, the way you described the peeling sounds like impedigo?
Teresa, I never knew that about mangos, but it's interesting, because my husband is extremely allergic to poison ivy and just last week had a case of it, but it didn't get as bad as it usually does. Last week he also bought 2 mangos. I'll have to tell him about it. Thanks.
One other thing that could be a possibility. Did you by chance pick up something while snorkeling that had some bright yellow stuff on it? One touch with fire coral can be like touching a hot stove. Takes a while for it to go away too. Nothing you can do about it. It will go away on it's own. It doesn't spread and only inflames the area that actually touched it. With such a small area you may not feel the pain that much.
I am not a doctor, but if anything poisonous bit you, than most likely you would have pus and be infected. Anyway, please let us know if you are okay or just a hypochondriac like me! 🙂
Teresa
no...we are a-okay now...just was wondering if I should be concerned...but I am over it now 🙂
I use to live in STX and I think that is called Cruisian Crud. I also contacted impedtago (spelling?) because I used to windsurf in the harbor near Hotel on the Cay. Lots of sailboats moored out.
My experience in the hospital there was interesting though
Interesting..so what is the Cruzan Crud? LOL
Impetigo is a bacterial skin infection (staph and/or strep). The bacteria take advantage of any breaks in the skin - scratching a bug bite etc, It is characterised by itchy blisters filled with golden or honey colored "ooze". It will spread to form golden colored crusty scabs. The vector for spreading or transmission to others is the oozing fluid.
Sounds pleasant. 😉 LOL
