Any security concerns on the island following the police shootings on STJ? Are the fugitives still at large?

STJ remains essentially a very safe place. As upsetting as that incident is, STJ is probably safer now than before it happended because it stopped some guys who were serious trouble. It's unfortunate, but there has been an increase in crime on the island in the last few years, particularly in major crime. It used to be said that most crime on STJ was crime of opportunity. I think that remains the case, but there is more crime of intent now. And more guns. There have been more shootings and more armed robberies. This recent incident is disturbing because it has reached a new level.
STJ is safe. But it is not crime-free. People need to take the normal precautions that they would take anywhere and be aware of what's around them. People sometimes are lulled by how perfect everything seems. But it's actually safer there than where I live.
Wow only $25000 bail for firing at a police officer???? And why were the minors not charged with something? Were they simply innocent bystanders?
I wouldn't think this incident would deter STJ vacationers - people vacation at far more dangerous places than STJ, but what I'm amazed with is the low bail and letting the minors go scott free. Just my opinion.
The person who was arrested and had a 25k bail was only charged with weapons possession and third degree burglary, NOT with firing at officers. He was likely not one of those who shot at officers. As for the minors, I can't imagine they would have let them go if they were among those shooting at officers.
Should be much safer. One dead.
