Hello,

I have been "lurking" for a few months now, and I appreciate all the info I have read so far from everyone! I will be getting married in St. Thomas in December. I wondered if anyone local knew of a steel pan player for hire for my wedding?

Thanks!

There are quite a few around.

You might wish to consider checking with the Superior Court Rising Stars since most of the best ones came out of that program including several pro's who also function as instructors:
http://www.visuperiorcourt.org/rising_stars/rising_stars.aspx

Elvino "Sifu" George is a good place to start, contact the office at (340) 774-6680 and connect with extension 6438; if he's not there, leave a message or ask for whatever instructor is on hand.

On the other hand, f you are working with a wedding planner, he or she will likely have a set preferred steel pan player or combo as well.

Thanks for the suggestions! We are using a wedding planner/coordinator, but I wanted to explore all the options.

Rusty - we rented a sailboat for a 3 hour sun set cruise; they will perform the ceremony and then serve dinner. I cannot wait, this will be my 3rd trip to St. Thomas, it has been since 2002 so I absolutely cannot wait!

Francis is on STT, but guessing he may be willing to make the trip to STJ, not sure!

Another Steel Pan player that we use at the wedding co. I work for is Andrew Douglas, also of STT. We also use Francis as well!
Andrew's number is: 340-690-8652
Francis Callwood's is:340-775-4726

BRIDE2BE,

Congratulations on your wedding!! The best steel pan player for your money down here is gonna be Morgan Rael.

Let me know if you wish to talk with him and I'll put the 2 of you together.

STT Resident,

Well I DO see we completely agree about music! Morgan is a great friend of mine. He works on all my guitars and is phenomenal. Morgan is currently on vacation until the end of next week, but as for my opinion, he's the best around on the steel pan!
