going to be in STT for a week (june 13th) -- any suggestions for good clubs/bars near or around the wyndham sugar bay resort? something with a preferably under 35 crowd?

also, how late are the clubs open and are taxis available late at night?

thanks

Hi I'm going to the Wyndham in 3 days. I was there a few years ago and stayed at the Rennisiance or how ever you spell it but there it Fungi's at Point pleasant and also the are a few bars in Red Hook.Sorry but we rent a car everytime, for us there is nothing better than exploring on our own.Not to mention the taxis are EXPENSIVE!Well have a great time maybe I'll see you there We're staying till the 14th

Matt

We stayed at Point Pleasant last week which is adjacent to Wyndham. you will need to go to Red Hook for closest nightlife. Duffys Love Shack is fun place with younger crowd. Coki beach is close to you and a must see, great local atmosphere. Agave rest. at Point Pleasant had the best food that we ate all week, highly recommend. If you plan on doing any exploring you need to rent a car. it will more than pay for itself with money saved on paying taxis. I am so envious, have fun!!

There is something for almost everyone in Redhook. Most bars there close at 2pm, The Caribbean Saloon is open til 4pm. And there will still be taxis available at those times.

Ed - I will be staying at Point Pleasant for a couple of nights before heading out to St. John. What part of the property would you recommend staying at? I don't mind walking the hills, and was looking for something recently renovated with a good view. I'm not sure the management is open to guest requests for specific buildings, but I figure it's worth a shot. Thanks!

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it.

Matt -- I may run into you.. I fly in on the 13th. Should be a real fun day.. leave Los Angeles at 8:30am and get into STT @ 9:45pm. Talk about a long day... 3 hr layover in Miami. Looked everywhere for a straight shot flight, but weren't any from LA. Either had to connect in miami or JFK.

Anyone know how far these clubs are from the Sugar Bar hotel? not that it really matters, but hopefully it's only like a 10 or 15 min cab ride and not 30.. haha.

Personally, I'd rather take cabs for hitting up night spots, but any daytime exploring, I'll probably rent a car.

IMHO the top of the hill (top floor units) have the best view!!!!!

We had 3 rooms all in D building, D30, D30 and D29. D30 had the best view as it was on top floor. D29 was a corner unit that was the nicest decorations of the three. Met some nice people there that owned D15 and it was georgeous.

It sounds like D Building on the 3rd floor is the best bet. I'll try requesting it and see what happens. Thanks!
