Look at the weather map. What do you think? A 33' boat in the waters out there right now would not make me feel safe. Will the answer be different in two weeks? Maybe - maybe not. At the very least I doubt it will be comfortable and will give a whole new meaning to "Oh, Lord my boat is so small and the sea is so large". Ask your Captain for the route and then check the marine conditions on the national hurricane center web site. Good luck.
Pamela.

To make this 1,200 mile voyage in ten days you are going to have to sail all day and many if not all nights depending on wind conditions and the sails on your boat.

The trip could be fun if your were stoping in a port most nights, but spending ten days at sea on a 33 foot boat sailing hard so as to make maximum headway is work. When you aren't standing watch it can be difficult to sleep soundly on a small boat, particularly if the seas are rough.

Also a boat of this size probably doesn't carry more than fifty gallons of potable water so you will need to learn how to take navy showers and you will be lucky to get one fresh water shower a day if you don't stop in port every other day and refill the tank. Fresh rations will also be a challenge. Hope you like eating Spam.

This trip could be a great adventure and you will learn a great deal about sailing. Just don't count on it being a lot of fun.

Post your experiences on line for your voyage when you get to Florida.

Jim
