*There are group of us(23)coming to St Thomas in March, 2006, via cruise line. We would like to go from the pier to Trunk Bay for the day. Some of the group will return to the pier. The remainder may like to take a short tour of St. Thomas.

I know we have to get to go from the pier to Red Hook; catch the ferry to St. John; and transportation from Cruz Bay dock to Trunk Bay. Of course the same to get back to the pier.

Question: What dependable tour company would you recommend to be able to provide the transportation to and from Red Hook and to take us to and from Trunk Bay and then back to the pier?

I have no personal experience with this company I just found their web page. It may work for you though and they do the island tours.

Helen,

There will be plenty of taxis everywhere: meeting cruise ship passengers to take them to the Red Hook pier; meeting the ferry in Cruz Bay to take pasengers to the north shore beaches; and the reverse. Your group will fit in 3 taxis. Those who would like a tour of St. Thomas when they retun from St. John should get in the same taxi(s) from Red Hook back to the ship, tell the driver how much time you have and ask the driver for a tour.

Stopping at St. Thomas for one day - 8am-10pm on a cruise in March. Is it too much to try and get to St. John, snorkle at Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, then back to St. Thomas for a tour to Mountain Top, then back to cruise ship? Advice please. Is it better to spend the whole day in St. Thomas?

Danno, that seems awfully ambitious. I'd pick one or the other. I've only been on one cruise but I'd be suspicious of the "8am-10pm" timetable. It took a couple of hours just to get off the ship.

You don't have to be back o the ship until 10pm? In that case, I don't think it is too much. Not sure when you would get to Mountain Top, though. The sun sets early in the VI. Getting to Mountain Top is too much in the late afternoon. Maybe skip Mountain top. Other than the view and the bar, it is kind of tourist trappy. You can see the view from an overlook on STJ.
