Hi! We are planning a trip at the end of Jan. We are flying in to St Thomas, but are trying to decide if it is better to stay on STT or STJ. We will only be there for 5 nights. We plan to SCUBA, snorkel and see the sites on both islands. Is it best to have a rental car and if so do you really need 4x4? We are also trying to find a place to stay that is clean and safe. We do not need anything fancy because we will just be sleeping and spending the rest of the time out and about. Thanks for any help that can be provided!

If you stay on St. Thomas you would be best to stay on the east end. Sawyer Dives has numerous day and night dives. I recomend the night dives. They are available in Red Hook. It is cheaper to stay on St. Thomas than St. John but if you go back and forth it may be a more or less a wash as you will need to pay for the ferry.

Be careful some rental agences do anot allow the car to be sent over to St. John. This is because they get more for a car on St. John then they do in St. Thomas. But they will say it is due to possible damage.

We have a place we rent to day trippers. It is right above Sapphire Beach and is 85 a day. It is a room in a private house that has its own bath, AC, micro wave, Frig and TV. If you are intersted please PM me.

Bill:

Is your place for $85 available on Friday January 4th for one night? There are 4 of us who are coming in on the 4th and renting a villa from the 5th to the 12th and we need a place to stay for one night. Thanks.
