been to this beautiful island as well as St John many times.. at least two dozen... on cruises.. however for the life of me can't remember ever being there on a Sunday.. well.. we get there on the Volendam on Jan 29 a Sunday..
are the shops open all day.. and bizness as usual??.. and if they are is there a limited schedule on times..
Happy New Year .. 🙂
The shops downtown will close early- maybe 2:00 or so. The shops at Havensight will be open regular time.
anyone know the hours for saturdays? thanks , scooby
Hello Scooby,
Monday to Saturday = regular hours (generally 9-5 downtown & in Havensight. Sometimes the shops in Havensight stay open until 6 or 7pm if there are ships staying in port late).
Exceptions: If there are no ships in port on a Saturday the shops in Havensight might close/take the day off.
And the day of the children's and adult's Carnival parade (a Friday and Saturday) the shops downtown close as Main Street is the parade route.

thanks islander, scooby
Is your ship docking in Crown Bay or Havensight? I'm noticing some of the Holland America ships are docking in Crown Bay instead of Havensight (you can check the cruise ship schedule posted somewhere on VINow to see where you're scheduled to dock). If it's Crown Bay, town will be your closest option.
we'll be docking at Havensight this time around.. was just there in early Nov ..we did Crown Bay.. those shops still not open for bizness yet.. thought they'd be done by now.. seems like they've been at them for a long time
will definitely be back again end of March on another cruise.. might even fit a late February trip in there...
thanx to all for the info.. appreciate it...
The construction at Crown Bay is still on-going....no idea when they'll be through. I know a couple of the guys working on the project, and THEY aren't even sure...aah, life on island 😉
