I will be in St Thomas for 2 days then St Croix What should I buy in St Thomas that is such a deal that St Croix wouldn't have??? Don't want to wait to buy, but don't want to carry things around for a extra week . Nothing special but have 4 grown children that love gifts. Our first time down to VI . When should we buy the RUM?
St Thomas or St Croix? 6 bottles each should that be carry on???
Hello Lynne,
If you have nothing special in mind and are just looking for souvenirs to take home then you can do the shopping on either island.
If you are looking for a large selection of jewerly, St. Thomas has many more jewerly stores in downtown Charlotte Amalie as compared to downtown Christiansted.
Christiansted has several neat locally made product shops; art, jewerly,soaps/scents,crafts... they always make good souvenirs.
The Cruzan Rum Factory is on St. Croix... 🙂 you could do a tour, do a rum tasting, take a couple pictures and tell your kids that you tasted them all to choose the ones that were the best before buying it for them 😛 You can buy the rum on St. Croix.
If you are really into shopping, definately spend a couple hours looking around Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas. The shopping area is larger, more stores then in Christiansted. Different atmosphere...
When you go shopping in Christiansted, plan the day for seeing the Fort and other historical sites, have lunch on the boardwalk and then do some shopping - great day!!

Thank You , We like hand made items one of a kind type of things. 3 daughters jewerly is always on the list. I have been planning this for 3 months first trip to VI and just found out my husband won a trip in April to San Juan It looks as if that is where we are to be. So what we miss on this trip I can get on the next 2 trips in 6 weeks oh boy!!
If you are looking for something special, Sonya's in Christiansted is the 'home' of the Caribbean Hook bracelet.
Also in Christiansted is IB Design, he makes some really neat pieces. http://www.islandboydesigns.com/
