Hello all, I just left the movie theater after watching THE RUM DIARY. Before I went I checked the filming locations and I actually stayed for the entire ending credits. Both just state "SAN JUAN",.but in the movie they go to "carnival" on St Thomas. It looked pretty realistic, so I was wondering if part of the film was actually filmed in St Thomas, or were they always in San Juan????? They also took a small sea plane in the movie, where was that they landed?

Although I'm not a big fan of Hunter Thompson, I loved both the novel and movie. "Rum Diary" was filmed in OSJ, Vega Baja, Celiba (sp?), Fajardo (i think). Although it looks like CA STT, the carnival street scene was shot in Vega Baja, PR. The film is worth it for the scenery alone--stunning! To enhance the PR/VI mood, I would suggest mixing a "Cuba Libre" roadie for the show.

Triva Question: The film opens in Hotel with day time shot s of a lobby and pool. Who can name the hotel and location?
