Hi,
I am interested in having my wedding in St. Thomas or St. John. What are some ideas to accomadations, caterers, photography, flowers, hair& makeup? We are planning a small wedding tops 20 people.
Thank you!
Ann

Absolutely go with St John! My husband and I were married on Trunk Bay this past December and it was incredible. I could not have imagined it being more perfect. St John is truly a unique and exquisite place, St Thomas is nice too, but in my opinion the two do not even compare. Try Stacy Mulcare, wedding coordinator for Ceremonies of St. John.

Having just been married in February I have to agree with KatieJoe. St. Thomas is nice if you want the more touristy, shopping, crowded seen but St. John is definately the better of the two in my opion. St. John has some of they most amazing beaches and no time is a bad time to get married there. We got married at 10 in the morning, the waters were amazing blue, the beaches were empty and the sun was shining, but not to bright to blind you. Jill

For your hair, I would recommend the beauty salon called Beauty in Balance on St. John, about 2 minutes from Cruz Bay. Super nice place with very nice hairdressers.

Ann: Here are a couple of my humble ideas:

Wedding and reception at Secret Harbour- wedding on the beach at sunset, champagne afterwards under the stars! That could also be your accomodations. One stop shopping!!

Flowers: East End Flower Shop. Ali does a wonderful job.

Hair: Katrina at Journey Spa at Sugar Bay and the Ritz. She also does nails and make-up!

By all means, go to the govt's tourism page for weddings and honeymoons, and download ALL material offered on the page. The brochure is absolutely first class (the print version anyway), and you'll have a chance to see ALL wedding options (including yacht and villa) offered in VI.

If I were getting married on a beach in St John, they'd have to guarantee me a mosquito-free one!

Hi Ann-

Ms411 has provided a great link.

Deciding on STJ or STT will depend on what kind of wedding you would like to have.

I disagree about STT being all shopping and crowds. That's what the STJ travelers see because of the route they take to get to the ferry dock or they have only visited Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie areas (the most crowded areas on STT). The majority of STT is uncrowded and a good portion is untouched. I like STT because I know it offers me the unspoiled areas and the cosmopolitan areas...and I can easily switch back and forth, depending on my mood.

However, if you were to decide on STT over STJ it would probably be for the options offered on STT.....such as the Botanical Gardens, the villas or the resorts.

For a small, beachfront kind of wedding, STJ is probably a better options...unless, as East Ender has offered, you want a beach with a top restaurant right on it....and that would be Secret Harbour on STT.

If I were doing it, I would select a beachfront villa.....and have the wedding on the beach and the celebration on the pool deck overlooking the sea/ocean. If I couldn't find a beachfront villa in my budget, I would go with a waterfront villa and have the wedding on the pool deck at sunset (think candles floating in the pool).

Picking one island over the other is tough. Judging STT on CA and Red Hook is like judging STJ on Cruz Bay. There's soooooo much more to the picture.

Best Wishes Ann!
