*I would like to visit St Croix and spend the day--- beaching ,lunching, and shopping. Any tours from St Thomas to St Croix? I haven't been able to find any so far. Thanks! Linda

It's a fairly long haul from St. Thomas, I would suggest St. John.

I checked into the ferry schedule. Leaving st. John going to St. Croix is a 1 hr. 15min ferry ride. We plan on doing a day trip from St. Thomas. We also plan on St. John as well. http://www.virginislandsfastferry.com/schedule.htm

Hello Linda,

Since you are only on St. Thomas for 8 or so hours taking the Seaplane or an inter-island airline like Cape Air would be your only option and then you can visit St. Croix for several hours on your own (rent a car, take a taxi tour, go to the beach...).

St. Croix is 40 miles away from St. Thomas so tours as in daysail trips don't exist like they do for daysailing to and around St. John (which is much closer).

good advice-- I'm thinking of the Jost Van Dyke excursion now, leave the hassles to the tour operator. Every time I'm in St Thomas all I do is go to the Marriott and sit on Morningstar beach all day----which I love, of course, but I'm kind of looking at doing something different this time! so thanks again!! Linda, How is the morningstar beach? We are staying there in April at Morningstar beachfront.

I really love Morningstar Beach! It's a great vista, and the water is very nice; the beach restaurant is terrific. You do have to be in fairly great shape to get OUT of the water!! The only person I have ever seen getting out unassisted was my son, who is an athlete. I need someone to hold my hand and pull! You'll see what I mean! What days will you be there? We will be there off our cruise on 4/25, Monday. I am looking into spending the day on Water Island by taking a ferry 10 minutes over to Honeymoon Beach, but I'm still reading about it. Chances are good that we will be sitting next to you on Morningstar!! You will love it, I'm sure. They charge you daily for umbrellas, even if you are staying at the hotel-- but the chair is free for you. Unreal!! Have a great vacation--

Linda

Thanks Linda. What's up with the beach? Is there a large drop off or something?
We will be there on the 25th. Actually we leave on the 26th so I look forward to crossing paths.

Not a drop-off; it's a steep slope like a little hill and with the water rushing in and out, it's just tricky to get out of there. Also, bring water shoes-- very very pebble-y and rocky-- you do not want to walk in and out of the water on Morningstar barefoot! But of course in spite of these 2 problems I love the beach and the water, and I'm sure you will, too-- It's the kind of beach where you can stay in the water for an hour and be happy as a clam-
