Say we wanted to take the kids over to STT from SSJ on the early ferry for the day and visit Coral World, do the tram, snorkel at Coki, drive to the overlook and do lunch followed by an hour or so of shopping. Should we rent a car or rent a taxi driver to take us where we want to go?

Any Suggestions?

We have the same question, but it would be our last day in the islands and we'd be leaving in the morning from St. Thomas. Is there someplace to rent a car at Red Hook and then drop off at the airport? I'm a little concerned about driving in St. Thomas, but I guess I will have had a week of practice in St. John.

I would highly recommend renting a car, as the taxis charge per person to each destination. Very expensive to do all you want by cab. I would reserve a car thru Budget, at Sapphire Beach Resort. It is only a 3 minute taxi trip from the ferry.

Thanks Marty. I guess I was thinking maybe we could rent the taxi driver for the day???

If we choose to rent at Budget, does the ressie need to made in advance or can we just walk up and get a car?

Just an idea, but we vistited St Thomas for the day and made reservations with Godfrey. We shopped in the morning and then met up with him for an island tour. He is great. At the end, you have the option of going to Coki or Sapphire for a few hours of swimming. It was $20 per person.

Give them at least a day's notice, as they are sometimes out of cars...

Hello,

Chrisn, You can hire a taxi for a day, week... Hourly rates: Sedan/Mini Van $35; Van $50; Safari $75. Weekly rates; negotiated between passenger(s) and driver or operator.

Scooby - Kat mentioned Godfrey as a tour option. He runs a group tour for a few hours of shopping, driving tour, beach time. $20 each. Here is his website http://www.godfreytoursvi.com/
