Is there a place to fish from shore on STT

Just got back from STT, we did a lot of fishing from shore. You can drop your line anywhere there isn't a posted swimming area. The key is definately the time of day. Early morning, before sunrise and about 2:30pm worked great for us. We used squid and caught pompano, snapper, razors and unfortunately a couple of baraccudas. Rent a boat and have some fun. We rented a great boat through Pocket Yachts at Sapphire beach, $99. for 4 hours. You can't beat that!
Good Luck

Hilary,
Thanks for the tip on Pocket Yachts. In the past we have gone through Ocean Runners for a full day rental while we were on St. John. The half day appeals to us (husband, myself, 8 year old and 5 year old). Did you fish the entire 4 hours? If so did you have all your own equipment or could you rent through Pocket Yachts. We have never fished in the VI's before. I thought this might be something my kids would like. They fish all summer at our cabin. Then again a 1/2 day cruise around St. John for snorkeling sounds good too.

Where did you go with the boat? Did you think 4 hours was enough? Also, did you get a captain.? We have a boat but have always felt more comfortable with a captain.

Thanks for any info.

Hi Arwallace,
I think 4 hours was enough, but it really depends on what you want to do and see. You can rent the boat for a full day, I think the price was $199.?? We fished for about 2 hours. We cruised around Thatch Cay, Grass Cay, Mingo and Congo, I believe are the names. They are all located around the Northeast side of STT.
I don't think there is an option of having a captain. The boats have a GPS, so I would'nt worry. We had brouht our own fishing equiptment, but I'm sure you could rent from someone local.
Hope you have a great time! Hilary

Being that my husband and I have never rented a boat before, what's required?
