Just returned from St. Thomas last night....it's snowing here...sunny and 85 there...

We loved dinner at Craig & Sally's in Frenchtown. Possibly best meal out we've ever had and husband and I are gourmet cooks (at home, not professional).

Took a daysail on the winifred. Capt and 1st mate both awesome.

CAUTION: Careful when booking tours through commercial companies. Check how many people they're taking! For example the winifred will take a maximum of 6 ... the others will take any number...some as many as 50...That's way too many if you want good snorkeling.

Best snorkeling on St. Thomas is at Secret Harbour...also a good restaurant and bar there, named Blue Moon Cafe.

Did not enjoy Old Stone Farmhouse. The food was good, but the chef is not flexible...we have a personal thing against a chef who insists his tastes are better than ours...just a personal thing. As I said, food was good, but won't go back there....

We rented a car from Dependable, but found out that Budget was cheaper...by 30 bucks and you got an extra day with Budget. So, would recommend checking all prices at all agencies.

Had a great time...Secret Harbour has a great beach...small, but you're on an island and they're mostly all small...hope your time is as wonderful!

Hello Dave,

Nice bar and conversation + beach for wife and daughter - Try Magens Bay, Secret Harbor, Sapphire Beach, Emerald Bay ... they all are nice beaches and have nice/fun beach bars.

Things you might do; day trip to St. John, day trip/beach picnic Water Island (kids might get bored unless they want to hike around the island as there is no shopping, commerial activity on Water Island and the beach is usually very quiet, island tour/drive to see scenic look outs and the island itself, check out Mountain Top and Paradise Point - you might do Paradise Point during happy hour (if you are open about letting the 18 year old have a tropical drink the bushwackers are good there if not bushwackers for everyone else :-), walk around historic sites in Charlotte Amalie, shopping in Havensight or Charlotte Amalie or both, do a day sail, your kids might like jet skis, parasailing, the whole family could do Coral World and sea trekkin - but if you don't like diving its basically walking underwater with an air bubble to breath - its fun, snorkeling is nice at Secret Harbor and Coki on St. Thomas.

You can rent from Budget, Avis, Dependable... shop around for a good deal.

Places to eat; Blue Moon Cafe at Secret Harbor, the Palms at Emerald Beach, Bananna Tree Grill at Bluebeards, Craig and Sallys in Frenchtown - there are other nice places in Frenchtown also that you could try for dinner or lunch or coffee. Greenhouse for happy hour has good casual eating - stay for the music if you think you or the kids might enjoy that.

Have a great time.

PS. Read the post called "Awesome Trip" has good info there from a very recent vacation.

You can view the attractions and beaches mentioned if you go to St. Thomas at the top of this page and then beach or attraction and then go through the pictures and descriptions - let your kids look to and see what they are interested in so that everyone has a good time.
