*Since we plan to do a week's worth of grocery shopping on St. Thomas before ferrying over to St. John for a week (5 of us), we're wondering if it would make sense to rent the vehicle on St. Thomas at the airport and take it over with us for the week. Last year we rented on St. John, but this year we want to shop on St. Thomas first. Feedback???? Thanks!!
Hello Jean,
Some folks do just what you are saying and it works out fine for them. Just make sure you know the car barge schedule so you get on one. And others point out that having a rental from a St. John company means that you have on island assistance if you need it, where as you'd have to go over to St. Thomas to get help if something were to happen to your rental or you'd need to take care of it yourself... also some St. John rentals allow you to park in their lot - since parking is limited in Cruz Bay this can be a plus.
