My husband and I will be arriving by cruise ship and are thinking of renting a car for the day. Do you recommend this as a way to see the island or is it better to just use a taxi. We would also like to see St.John. Can you get there by car?

There are rental companies close by the dock. Check with them and see if you can take the car to St. John. There is a barge that leaves just about every half hour. Round trip is $25. Trouble is you have to return with the same company. To make matters easier, take the first one and pay one way $15 and you won't be tied into catching the same one back! Especially if you have to make it back in time to set sail.
Have fun.

Oh yea, it's a good way to explore both islands!
