Emily, I've read that St. Thomas has the best nightlife of all the USVI? Me and my buddies are flying from Jacksonville, Florida and will be there from the 30th to the 6th to prove that right :).
If you'd like to meet up for drinks/New Year's, my email is: [email protected]

To many a drunken sunsets in the islands, I salute you!
Pete

Being in my mid 20's and having lived here for over 2 years - I would say anywhere on the East End of STT. Many fun bars withing walking distance to each other, and safe. There are many resorts close to Red Hook which are all on the becach, where most young people hang out, I myself have blacked out there many a time. In that area you have The Ritz Carlton, Wyndham, Secret Harbour, and Sapphire Beach Resort - all good places to stay.

Jason, as far as 'blacking out' while in STT, any safety tips you could share? I definitely want to make this a memorable New Year's experience, yet also wish to keep it safe and within reason.

Much thx for any tips!
Pete

Just trying to say I've had my share of good times in Red Hook. For New Year's I would recommend getting over to Foxy's on Jost Van Dyke. They throw a huge party and 5-10,000 people show up. Its an absolute blast.

If you are going to stay in St Thomas, all the bars in Red Hook will have something going on. We call it "doing the Red Hook 500" b/c we sorta do laps at night hitting all the bars. Safety wise, just keep your nose clean and you'll be fine. Taxi's are all over the place when you are ready to leave, Red Hook is very lit up with a lot of people around.

Emily: Bolongo Bay Beach Club is half way between town (The Old Mill, Shipwreck, the Greenhouse, the places downtown with weird names- Q, Wax, etc) and Red Hook (Duffy's, XO, Poor Man's, etc.) And whatever other places the young'uns are gathering these days. Quite honestly, I would not recommend the Ritz or Secret Harbour to you as the old people there do not like loud partying.;)

I would stay at Sapphire, you are right on the beach, snorkeling right there and you are close to Red Hook. Sapphire has a great Sunday beach party that the whole island comes to. Red Hook is great, we have a houseboat there and a condo at sapphire, don't forget to go to the Warehouse, poorman's bar, where you pour your own drinks. Also get over to St. John at least one day. Have fun, I'm not going this year, but next Feb. look out.

Hello Pete,

You asked for safety tips while partying... they are the common sense tips like... someone in your group should be the designated sober or at least semi sober person rather than everyone getting wasted and then not having at least one person to look out for the group members well being (ie. help keep drunken guy from getting into bar brawl). Drugs are illegal here but can be found; it’s not a good idea to seek it out... particularly not in dark, unpopulated areas... or following some joe to some dark, unpopulated area because he tells you he can hook you up. For the girls, not a good idea to get so wasted that some joe could just pick you up and carry you out the bar to his car. Not saying that all drunken people get into fights or get taken advantage of... just saying use common sense and have a great time! Cheers!
