Apparently, all flights in and out of ST Thomas, will be Delayed until the runway is fixed "properly"
It seams a crew went out and tried to put on a new asphalt surface, and was not done right , when the next plane landed it, it tore up the new asphalt, making it unsafe for plane to land or take off, all flight s are rerouted to Port a Rico, ..........reported 3;10 pm, I would stroghly sugest you call your airline for more info
Thanks for the heart attack. We just called St Thomas airport. This was an isolated incident and the airport is OPEN.
Seems like this is the excuse(pothole on runway caused by previous plane) they always give when they run into major delays . We were told the exact same thing flying out of Cyril E. King last March. My four hour non stop flight took ten hours including a stop in P.R. to add fuel.
Our neighbors were coming in yesterday afternoon and diverted to Puerto Rico. Finally arrived yesterday evening.
