Hi,
My husband and I are taking our first cruise in June and would like to get some information on local activities. The cruise line offers excursions, but I want to get some pricing ideas if we were to just spend our day checking things out.
Would you recommend just getting out there on the island and finding our way around and activities on our own? I wouldl ike o do something like an atv island tour if that is available and some shopping as well. Are there shopping areas that are better to visit versus others? I am curious if there are any antique shops around on the island as well.
Thanks in advance!
Hello Julie,
Welcome to the board. There are lots of activities to be had that you can do on your own: rent a car, parasailing, jet skis, charter a boat, rent a boat, take a tour, kayaking, fishing charters, bike tour, go to St. John, go to Water Island, shop...
Lots of people visit the island on their own and lots choose to do excursions through the ship. The island is easy to visit on your own.
There are no ATV's here. You can do a tour by taxi (van, car, safari bus) or rent a car or jeep and visit on your own. There are also scooter rentals.
Lots of shopping. Havensight and downtown Charlotte Amalie are your two main shopping areas.
There are two antique shops downtown; Carson Co and the other SOS.
