Hi All,

I will be arriving in St. Thomas via a cruise in a few weeks and wanted to know what is the best way to get to Megans Bay.
Are there taxi's waiting for you at the port?

Also are the shops walking distance from the cruise terminal or do I need to take a taxi?

Louis - You'll find more than 10-20 willing and able taxis to take you to Magens Bay or anywhere else on STT at the cruise ship docks! And then many waiting at Magens Bay to take you back. There are shops in Charlotte Amalie, but it's a bit of a long walk from the dock (I'd say 2 mi). In the heat/humidity that would be tough, so I'd opt for a taxi. This is where you'll find the open air vendors to barter on t-shirts, knock-off purses, jewelry, hair braiding, etc as well as many other jewelry stores, restaurants, bars, etc. There are also shops right outside the docks at Havensight, but I think normally a bit more expensive.

Great

Where else would you recommend to go besides Megan's? We are a very large group going with kids. (about 24 people)

Our other port is St. Maarten and looking for ideas there as well if you have any.

Thanks

Louis:

I like Coki Point more than Megan's.

Plus you have Coral World at Coki.

I have only been to St Maarten once on a cruise. We took a "tour" to the French side. IMHO the beach would have been better as I'm not a shopper.

Great.

Thanks for the feedback.

Our whole group is meeting tonight for a pre cruise party to discuss what we will be doing on the islands.

How fun! I would agree with F.I. that Coki would be a better choice. Better snorkeling IMHO.

I would suggest Orient Beach in St. Maarten. It's on the French side. One part is "family"; the other (completely separate and marked) part of it is nudist, which is something everyone (adults)should do/see at least ONCE in their life. Cross it off the list, so to speak. I will never forget the male nude jogger. I tell ya, it's one thing to lay nude on a beach chair. It's quite another to JOG. Can you say METRONOME?? 🙂

Ok.

Thaks for your ideas.

keep them all coming.

How far is the cruise ship to Megan's Bay and how far from cruise ship to Coki Point?

Louis:

STT is only 13 miles long by 3 miles wide. Time to either destination depends on traffic....or about 15 to 20 minutes.
