Happy New Year to all-
My hubby and I will be back to St. Thomas on 1/23-1/30. We have a timeshare at the Frenchman's Cove and haven't been back for two years now.
It looks like it has been growing at a steady pace. I have a question about the beach there... Is it more user friendly than in the past? Last time there were tons of sea urchins and some jagged coral. I love to swim in the ocean but the beach wasn't the greatest.
We also want to take a day trip to Virgin Gorda as well. We haven't been there for years but when we were, thought it was one of the nicest places on earth.
Any comments or suggestions would be great. Thanks!

They were just allowed a CZM permit to reconstuct the dock and put in a swim platform last week . The plan to rip out the rocks and coral and replace it with trucked in sand was denied. It was never a great natural sandy beach and any plan to make it appear so would be a travesty for the ecology.

yes the beach is limited. Go to Sapphire or Secret Harbor for the best beaches.

Responding to your Virgin Gorda trip question...

I just booked a boat trip with The Stormey Petral/Pirates Penny boat tours (340-775-7990). The folks there were really nice. I can tell you that the boat is in Red Hook and leaves at 7:45a and returns at 5:00ish. It accommodates up to 12 people. It's $125.00 per person for the day. Drinks and snacks are included, but lunch is ordered at Cooper Island Beach Club (for $7 -10). They take you to the Baths where you can explore the caves, and snorkle or swim in the morning, and after lunch you go to a great reef for a snorkle stop. It sounds like lots of fun and I can't wait. They also have another tour that goes to Jost Van Dyke and Great White Bay as well. You can google them to get to their website...sorry, already forgot what it is.

I also checked out sites for Limnos and New Horizons Charters which are bigger boats.

Enjoy your vacation!
