Hi,
My finacee and I are traveling to the islands in May for our honeymoon and was wanting some tips on places to stay. Everything on the internet looks nice. I looked into the Marriott and Emerald Resort? We are wanting something with a little quiet and away from the cruise ships. Thanks!!!

How is traffic in St Thomas? Is it easy to get around. Are there certain times to avoid going to Charlette Amalie?

As long as you don't stay in or near Charlotte Amalie, you should not be affected by the cruise ship crowds. A large majority of the cruise ship crowd head toward the shopping district in town or to Megans Bay or something like that.

We always stay on the east end (Red Hook) because it is close proximity to the ferry dock for trips to St. John. It is only a 20 minute ferry ride to St. John. That way, you get to enjoy 2 islands both with their own appeal. St. John is definately the more "laid back" of the 2 islands.

Someone mentioned Secret Harbour in response to question. Sounds exactly like what you are looking for. I will be staying there in November. If you like I can let you know how it was. Then there is Sapphire Beach Resort (NICE beach!), Windham at Sugar Bay, and Point Pleasant. I never stayed at any of these places so I can't tell you anything about them.

Hope this helps!

My wife and I stayed at Pavilions and Pools on St. Thomas for our honeymoon. It is an older place but the fact that you had a private pool is what sold us on it. After all we were on our honeymoon. We had a wonderful view of St. John from our bed and a nice pool right ourside our bedroom for late night swims. It isn't a party place but then again we weren't doing much partying that trip.
