My wife and I just returned from 8 glorious days in STJ. When we got home, we realized we never saw the barefoot "pirate" guy this year. Does anyone know what (if anything ) happened to him. We never really talked to him but we used to see him every year.

What's the barefoot pirate? And, where do you see him/her?

He is this really cool, older gentleman that lives on St. John and looks like a long lost pirate, he is always barefoot. My husband and I gave him a ride this past Feb. and we hadn't the greatest conversation with him. We ended up bumping into him again a few days later at Aqua Bistro and we had yet again the nicest conversation, he's a real down to earth humble man with stories to tell and laughs to be had. He's a great guy. That's all I know of him.!

Glad to hear he is still around. Does anyone know his story? We heard he was a professional diver and messed up his ears diving too deep. He was searching for some big ship wreck and he spent all his money trying to recovery the treasure. Is this true or just local folklore?

His name is "Pirate Bill" and you can always find him in Coral Bay usually around Shipwreck resturant.
