I was hoping someone could give me their opinion of Asolare on St. John. Last time we were on St. John, somehow we got the impression that the restaurant was really good, but that the wait staff was snooty and they try to hurry you through your meal. Since we can get treated like that stateside, we never bothered going. However, I still read that it is the best restaurant on St. John, and since we are going back at the end of this month, I would love someone's opinion on this. Thanks very much for your help!

Honestly hearing very mixed reviews on Asolare recently and most of the not very positive. I've never cared for the "fusion tower-food" so it is not one of my favorites ever! I prefer Chateau Bordeaux but you aren't going to have the views that Asolare will give you after dark. Some mention that Zozo's a very popular Italian spot will be moving into the Ellington's spot next to Gallows Point and that always had a spectacular view.

I just returned from St. John. My ASOLARE experience was absolutely fabulous. It began with the breathtaking views of the sunset on Cruz Bay, continued with exceptional service (hostess, waitress, bartender) and culminated in the delicious cuisine. Beware it does come with a price. However, I left feeling I got my money's worth.

We celebrated our 35th anniversary with dinner at Asolare last October. It was wonderful - great service, beautiful sunset, and wonderful cuisine. We would highly recommend it and hope to return with friends someday.

We ate there not but two nights ago.....it was AWESOME! The view was great, overlooking cruz bay and the food was just as good as the view. No problems with the wait staff, they went over and above what they should have done (thanks for helping us select and taste different wines!!!).

You should go.

We ate there last month. They do two sittings each night so there isn't really any reason to feel rushed. The food and service was excellent. As someone else said it is expensive. Great view.

I think Chateau Bordeaux has a little better menu. It is much smaller and has a great view during the daytime. You would want to be there early so you could enjoy the view the entire meal. That's not a big deal since it stays light until pretty late.

Incidentally, they are both owned by the same people.
