Loved Virgin Gorda and was thinking of either going to St. John or Tortola this summer. How do they compare to VG?
Is the following correct: If we chose St. John, we have to go to St. Thomas and then either take a ferry or flight ... But if we go to Tortola, we can either fly to Puerto Rico or St. Thomas? Flights from U.S. to PR are much cheaper than to St. Thomas ... but then we would have to take a flight from PR rather than a ferry?
Thanks.
Wow....I'm getting confused. What are you looking to do? I would go to St. John, you could always take a ferry to Tortolla. You do have to fly in to St Thomas and ferry it to St. John, it's worth it. Just my two cents.

Mary,
If you want to go to St John, you will have to fly to St Thomas and then take a ferry to St John, the ferry ride is only a few minutes long. There is no flight from St Thomas to St John.
If you want to go to Tortola, you can do one of several things. You can fly into Tortola because there is an airport. The airport code is EIS. I don't know of any nonstop flights from the US but there might be a couple. Most likely you will have to change planes in San Juan.
You can also fly to St Thomas and then take the ferry to Tortola. You can do a few searches on Orbitz or Expedia and figure out what's more cost effective and convenient for you. The ferry from St Thomas to Tortola is around $40 round trip.
Hope that helps!
