I am planning on going fishing in St. John and i would love to be able to eat what we catch....does anyone know of any spots anywhere on St. John that would allow this?

And many other restaurants are willing to cook it up for you, as well. Some even have you sign a waiver, in case it makes you ill. Not that it WILL make you ill, but cigatuera (sp?) can be found in some of our reef fish.

Couple of years ago we caught 6 yellowfin tuna ranging in size from 40 to 70 pounds and took the fillets to Cafe Wahoo (now The Balcony). 16 of us had dinner with enough left over to sell to the chef for the next days "Catch of the Day".

My recommendation would be to contact a place or two in advance so the chef can plan on you.

We are at the Westin but it is a leased property. We are owned by the same company that runs Asolare, Chateau Bordeaux, and Paradiso.
I try to go the extra few yards that some people don't.
Give me a buzz on ext: 1862 after 1pm or leave a message if you get anything. Have the fisherman break down the fish for you into loins or filets if possible. I won't cook fish that are shore caught. Those are more likely to make someone sick because of their close proximity to the reef. But if you are in a boat with downriggers, I'm sure they will be safe.
