Can anyone on the board help out with lodging suggestions on St. John? We generally stay on St. Croix at Tamarind, a smallish, casual spot. We're thinking of spending next Christmas on St. John. Do you know of any places similar to Tamarind there? Many thanks.

Not sure about the place you mentioned, we just returned from St John and used Windspree vacation rentals. Rented a villa in St John in Coral Bay, with a pool, very reasonable rates for the week. Check them out at www.windspree.com. Great people to work with, the villas was finely furnished and beautiful vistas abound.
My fiance and I are also renting a villa on St. John as well...going through Destination St. John villa agency. There are villa's abound on St. John!

I loved the company www.stjohnproperties.com. We stayed in their property called String of Pearls. It was more than we could have ever wanted... and half the price of a hotel room at the Westin. They also have larger homes with great views if you are looking for that. My parents used VIVA! vacation rentals and had an excellent rental home from them as well. Villas are the way to stay on St. John.. and you have to rent a car.
So glad that you liked String of Pearls. It's such a lovely setting and the house is well appointed. Perfect for a couple. I like St. John Properties, the owner is so well versed in all things on island and has been there for many years. a very reliable company to deal with.
