Hi,

My fiance and are planning our honeymoon for the second week of October. Slightly concerned about weather, is this a very rainy time of year? Also, we have yet to book a private Villa, looking to spend 1400-2k for a week and would gladly appreciate any suggestions. Only musts are AC and a pool. Thanks for any and all advice!

It's a relatively dry time of year unless there's a hurricane. The August/September heat is over. It's also nice and quiet; fewer tourists because kids are back in school and the holidays have not yet arrived. Most restaurants etc. are open and gearing up for season.

Lots of visitors swar by going at that time. Hurricane season is JUST ending and the season isn't ready to pick up. You'll get off-season rates on things. Kids are in school.

Go and enjoy. Congrats!

Hi
You might want to think about trip insurance just incase of the big blow.

We were on STJ last Oct.22 - Nov.5. The weather was beautiful, & like others mentioned, it's not very crowded. We stayed at Dream Catcher villa, offered by Caribbean Villas & Resorts (www.caribbeanvilla.com). It's a 3 bd/3 bath with pool, hot tub, & ac in the bedrooms. We loved it & highly recommend it. And it's in your price range. Have a great honeymoon!

My husband and I were married in St. John in mid-October 2005 and stayed on for a honeymoon as well. There had been some fairly heavy rain for the 10 days prior to our arrival (not all day, everyday). The weather while were there was very nice, but very humid. I would recommend traveler's insurance just as a safety net.

We stayed at Villa Cielomar while were there and loved it. It does not have A/C throughout, but only in the master bedroom. The rest of the house has ceiling fans. We didn't spend much time indoors other than sleeping at night so this was not a big issue for us. And they have a great pool that we used quite a bit to cool off. Here is their website:

St. John is our favorite vacation spot and we not consider ourselves veterans there. We would go back anytime of year and as often as possible.

Enjoy your wedding!
