Greetings, all!

I've heard that there's a fantastic Full Moon Party held... well, appropriately enough, whenever there happens to be a full moon. Can anyone give me any info about this? I understand it takes place on St. John, but that's about all I know...

Every full moon there is a "party" at Miss Lucy's restaurant, which is just beyond Coral Bay going toward Salt Pond. We went once some years ago and found it a bit of a let down. Didn't find it to really be a party atmosphere. More like going out to dinner, just more crowded. Full moon parties at a few locations in the BVI are actually parties.

We stumbled upon one of the full moon parties a few years ago, taking place in an old sugar ruin. This ruin, which was normally so black and silent, was lit up with fires and thrumming with the sound of drums. A wild sight from the road. Inside, about 10 people were sitting along the curved brick wall, banging on drums. Everyone else was pretty subdued--either watching the drummers or talking quietly. There were people there with kids; it wasn't a crazy party scene.

I mentioned it to friends who live on the island and each one said, "I've *heard* of those parties."

Another year, another full moon and we drove up there hoping to see one again, but all was quiet.

I have never been to the Islands, but I heard Tortola is the place to be. I plan on being at Miss Lucy's on July 21st. I guess I'll check out the ruins later that night too.

Bomba's Shack on Tortola is the big full moon party that you have heard about. Lots of mushrooms and very "Greatful Dead"-like.

and as soon as I get my butt in gear, I'll upload some pix of the Bomba Shack, HQ for the Full Moon Party. You'll like the pix of the bathrooms.....well, whatever they want to call them.

Last time I was on Tortola, Bomba's Shack was advertising they had Full Moon parties every week. Must be the mushrooms...
