Most of the dingy recommendations seem to be about touring the northern beaches that you can also reach by car. What about the western or southern beaches/bays?

So, that's the question - tour the north, coral bay, or the south bays that have no road access? Are there any beaches on the southern side of the island or is the coast too rocky to land a dinghy?

Just thought it'd be neat to tour an area that I can't get too by car, but we would like to snorkel and relax on a beach along the way.

Thanks!

ok...got some of this answered by locals, FYI - south bays can be rougher and while you'll find a couple beaches to stop at, the north beaches are nicer w/ better snorkling.

so, what about coral bay? worth a dinghy visit or stick to the north beaches?

I think that the Cruz Bay dinghy rental folks limit you geographically to north side beaches. It is a long distance from Cruz Bay to Lameshur and Salt Pond, which are the two premier south side snorkeling spots. Also, it is more remote, so if anything happened to your dinghy, you would be adrift in the deep blue sea!!
