The last few times that I have been on StJ I purchased some plates of food from some ladies selling BBQ chicken plates. Seems like it was near the ferry dock maybe. She had great food. Does anyone know if she still has her stand?
You maybe thinking of Joes' BBQ which is caddy corner to caps place. Not to far from the ferry dock.
Was it like an outdoor stand or very small building??
Can't remember exactly..just know it was a heck of a plate of great food for minimal expense. Is it still there?
it's probably Joes and yes he's still there!! good bbq !
We always get some local food when we're on STJ.
There are a few small cart/stand operations around the pavilion that put out good local food. There's also Patrick's truck in the parking lot across from the post office. Hercules, located across from the Lumberyard, has good pate. For dinner, we like Sogo's, for West Indian, or Sosa's for Latin Caribbean.
In Coral Bay, there are a couple of good truck/stand operations at the junction. The Sputnik bar sometimes puts up good local food. Miss Lucy's and Sweet Plantains are good for dinner. Then there's Vie's in the East End.
If you were closer to the dock that the Post Office then it was Shelia's Pot that you got your food from. Shelia Liburd's location in is Cruz Bay Park next to Morris de Castro clinic. She is there Tuesdays through Saturdays, Noon till about 4:pm. Am just finishinig a plate of her conch as I write this.
Here's a picture of Joe's. Was this the place?
Just noticed your email. Is this David Ferguson, screenprinter extradorinaire who my wife feels obligated to purchase from each Carnival seasons.
If it is and anybody else is ever down there that time of year, he's a must for his changing themes.....oh, and he does it all by hand.
Hey, glad you had a pic..I think this is it. Seems like I remember getting a half chicken plate with rice for around $7 bucks. I just know that I have to find this place back when I visit in November
