Greetings everyone,

We've vacationed on St John in a villa and loved it, and plan to do so again. Have considered coming during Carnival, which sounds like fun. When we were there, the difficulty with accessing Cruz Bay and parking was significant (Easter week), and I would think it is MUCH worse during Carnival. So, the obvious question - how do you access town, particularly on the 4th? Are there places to park further out and walk that I just didn't realize? Take a taxi from your villa? From what I understood, much of the day on the 4th with the parade, you couldn't even consider driving through town even if you don't intend to stop, the streets would be blocked off. So a trip from the south side, say the Westin, to one of the western north shore beaches, would still involve taking the longer route.

Just curious to know how things work, what locals do, if that's not asking you to give up too many secrets! 😉

Thx!

It's a fun time. Parking is limited. Probably the peopple you rent from will let you park in their yard. Penn's has a big yard! Other than that, come in early to find a spot. If coming from the North Shore, you park on the top of the hill and there is a shuttle that brings you down to Mongoose Junction.
