When is the annual St. John carnival going to be in June 2009? Or is it to early to know? Were looking to visit June 20-27th and didnt know if it would be super busy on the island then. Thanks

Carnival goes from early June ending July 4. I don't think the specific schedule is out just yet. Events are usually running on the weekends.

The week that is full of stuff going on is the last week. The week of your visit you should be able to catch the food fair, which is a great opportunity to sample local dishes and drinks and pick up locally made crafts and other souvenirs.

The full schedule isn't yet available.

The parade is scheduled for July 4th. That week will most likely start with the opening of the Village, probably the 28th or 29th. Live music in the village will go on pretty much nightly until the 4th. Usually on the 3rd, Emancipation Day in the VI, there is a celebration of culture/history tied in with the carnival festival.

The week before that (21st-27th) there will likely be the Food Fair/Coronation and a music venue. Last year it was Festival Mix which had a few different music types in one concert.

And between the 12th - 20th, there will be the princess and queen pageants, senior show and likely the bike race. Pan-o-rama is another event, steel pan bands perform, last year it took place the last week of May.
