Just wanted to let you all know that we visited The Brew Pub in Mongoose Junction during our recent trip to St. John. I had read about it in several posts on this board and since my sons are really into beer we wanted to find it. It was terrific. We visited with the owners, Cheech and Kevin, and Cheech gave us a brief history of Virgin Islands Pale Ale. We had already tasted it having bought some at Starfish Market and I was dying to identify the fruit essence. When you pop the cap it just has a fresh, fruit aroma. Not a fruity taste at all, just a nice, clean, refreshing flavor. Well, Cheech said it was mango and they had worked for awhile to get just the right essence. It's a small place upstairs from Ocean Grill, but very inviting. VI Pale Ale and some others on tap, and a window into their future (very soon) brewing operation. If you enjoy tasting the local products and encouraging some young entrepeneurs, we definitely recommend you stop in for a pint!
Okay, that's it! I've got to plan another trip soon- just to sample the beer of course 😉
Sounds great - thanks for the update.
Iwbe,
Are the other beers on tap their beers? If the brewery isn't up and running I assume they are small batch amounts like a homebrewer would do?
It sounds great, can't wait to try it in June.
Will be leaving Monday for SJ, tried some last time we were there and it was great.. Good to hear they have their own place now
The other beers on tap are not their beers. Once they get the brewery up and running, they'll be introducing a new beer, which they will have on tap in addition to the VI Pale Ale.
