My wife and I will be staying in Cruz Bay for 7 days 5/12. We would like to take a boat trip one day to JVD and another day to the Baths. Can you recommend a tour co.? Would like to spend about $150 per person. The other days we will be going to the beaches on St John. We would like to go to beaches with sand bottoms where you don't have to wear beach shoes. Which ones on St John would they be and of those beaches which have the best snorkeling? Thanks

We are looking for a good tour company too. Never been to the BVI's and we would like to take a day trip to JVD, the Baths, and Soggy Dollar. Its just the (2) of us so we don't want to charter a boat. There does not seem to be very many tour companies that provide this service. So far I found New Horizons and Stormy Petrel & Pirate's Penny. Does anyone have any experience with these tours or another reputable company that provides this service?

Regarding white sandy bottomed beaches on St. John where you don't need beach shoes, I think that pretty much describes the most popular beaches (Trunk bay, Cinnamon, Hawksnest, Honeymoon, Caneel Bay etc.).

Bad Kitty is another boat to BVI. There are others, but these have stood the test of time.

Stormy Petrel is fantastic! I took their Baths and JVD tour last year and it was a perfect day at sea. It's not a huge party boat so if that's what you're looking for I would recommend going elsewhere. There is a bar on the boat though and you can serve yourself all day - you just don't have to deal with 30 other people. The captain and his assistant were really laid back and handled all of the paperwork for customs making that a breeze. If I am remembering correctly, the cost was about $160 plus the cost of lunch (about $20) on Cooper Island so it's in your price range. I wouldn't hesitate to take this charter again and have recommended them to many people!

Thanks for your replies. I'm looking for a tour without a lot of people so your input is very helpful. Thanks once again.

It is easier to list the beaches without sand bottom than to list the ones with.
-Great Lamshur
- hmmmmm...still trying to think of a second one.
- oh yeah, Fish Bay.
