I was just told that there is a beach bar/restaurant on St. John where you can jump off the roof into the water. If you jump naked you win a t shirt. Anyone heard of this and where would it be. Thanks

They moved a ship called the Willie T and put it between to the custom's office and the car barge. It is a reaturant, and if you jump off the top of the second level, and miss the car ferry, and not get caught by the customs officers, they will give you a free t-shirt, but only if you are female.

I am, of course, only kidding. Everything except about the Willie T (William Thornton), and jumping off. It is in the BVI's actually, and abchored in the Bight. When you get there (St. John) ask around. There are a lot of folks who will take you there for lunch, and a jump and a t-shirt, if you are so inclined.

I believe you did not hear right. There is not a bar on St. John that allows your to jump naked into the ocean. There is a boat floating out in the British Virgin Islands that was turned into a restaurant called the Willy T which may be what you are referring to. It is not part of the USVI.

That reminds me of when we were bareboat sailing out of the BVI in 1991 - and came across the Willie T while anchored at night in The Bight. We thought it was a private boat, but sounded as if a party was going on - so we decided to crash it.

Turned out to be a floating bar - where we proceeded to play 'Tequilla Pigs' with the bartender - he went on a rough losing streak - and we ended up having to tend bar (no kidding). I probably have never been this drunk in my life - started hallicinating from tequilla if that is possible (my brother morphed into an alligator...)

One of our group decided to swim back to our boat (100 yards or so) in the dark - and changed their mind after jumping. Luckily we found him holding on to the Willie T - very scratched up - and we were very thankful that he didn't drown. He did not touch a drop of alcohol the rest of the trip (and puked all the next day under sail - lol) - not even at Pusser's nickel beer night on Thursday (does that still go on - is it a quarter now?)

I heard that the Wille T had burned down a few years later?

The original was damaged in Hurricane Marilyn. She was towed and sank (not sure if on purpose or not) outside Great Harbour, Peter Island. There are two wrecks for the price of one in the area, pretty interesting scuba dive.

Now that is some excellent information that makes this board a great resource. I will plan on diving the site in June - thanks.

no but if you go to stt right in red hook is the pour man's bar(warehouse), which I went to about every night in 93 while I lived on our houseboat in redhook for three months, which you can take your shirt off and they will give you a free warehouse t-shirt, but of course once they give it to you when your shirt if off, it is tied in a knot. 🙂
