We will be staying in Crux Bay in June with our 18 and 22 year old's. Looking for good places in STJ for night life where Mom and Dad can stay out of the way. Also, looking for safety in Cruz Bay at night. We are within waling distance from Cruz Bay, so at least there will not be any driving. Thanks!

Hello John and Debbie,

You can try a nice dinner all together at one of the restaurants in Cruz Bay and then head to Duffys maybe... or you could try happy hour at Woodys.

Thanks Islander for your advice. I'm still concerned about the safty in St. John at night if my kids (18 and 22) want to go out by themselves, and any suggestions were would be a good choice.

Hello John and Debbie,

The suggestions would stay the same. St. John is small, there aren't too many options. Also both the places named often have younger and older crowds so if you wanted to go with them that would be ok, if they wanted to go alone or you guys alone - its ok.

Duffys Happy Hour is fairly early - around 5 pm I think - so nothing to worry about there. If they went out at night alone, St. John is pretty safe so if you trust them to act responsiably in terms of drinking and partying they should be fine.

You might also look into whether there are any live performances - for example Inner Visions a St. John band often play at the Westin and Freds and sometimes at Maho Bay Campground. So that might be fun to attend with everyone.

In fact you could check them out on-line if you aren't familiar with them:

Just be awre that the legal drinking age is 18. So advise your kids accordingly.
