Hi. I plan on visiting St. John in early or middle May. There will be 2 couples. We are looking for a nice villa resonably priced. We need it for a week. I prefer to stay relatively close to Cruz Bay. Would like something within walking distance of a beach if not on a beach. Pool optional if on the beach. We are all in our 40's and 50's. I visited St. John 2 years ago but neither my husband nor the other couple have been to St. John. I would like to show them a very nice time. I have bragged about St. John for so long. I prefer to rent from an individual. I would rather give my rental money to a local or individual rather than an agency. Can anyone suggest a villa?

Elaine...you said you'd rather give your money to a "local" rather an agency. you might be suprised that many of the villas are owned by st. john "locals". some choose to list their properties with island agents to manage/market it for them. these agents also hire "locals" to staff their office and maintain the various villas.so by doing business with an island agency you are in fact mant times supporting the local economy. some on island rental companies to check out are : www.caribbeanvilla.com -- www.destinatonstjohn.com -- www.windspree.com -- www.donaldschnell.com -- www.privatehomes.com --www.cateredto.com , between all these companies you'll find a huge listing of villas all over st. john from small to large/and prices to fit all budgets. good luck !!
